REACHING MY GOALS
One Pound at a Time!

It's getting close to the kick off date........... I am having mixed emotions around the start of this program as the calendar has started to get full of meetings from September to June of 2013. I told Shari tonight that with the added commitments of getting healthy I need to give up some stuff, so my master plan will be to give up TV and most likely most if not all of my Facebook time. Both of which I seem to spend a lot of wasted time enjoying.

So, as the time is getting closer I have to admit that I keep thinking about all the food that I'll be giving up ice cream, pizza, Micky D all the food that got me where I am today. I will say that I have been indulging more frequently on those foods that will soon be in my past. Not that I can never have them again, but certainly not as often as I have over the past 25 to 26 years.

Let the change begin!

REACHING MY GOALS
One Pound at a Time!

Sometimes in life we reach a point when we get sick and tired of being sick and tired...... I have reached this point many times in my life around a variety of issues, there are just to many to talk about. But, today I have reached that point about my weight.

Yup I said it, I am sick and tired of being over weight and cheating myself of a healthy future.

So one month ago I applied for a program through work called MeFirst. This is a program where applicants are picked to participate in a lottery fashion. It must be my LUCKY year, because I was picked to participate in the program and I just can't wait for things to get started.

Over the past seven years Shari and I have sat down around my birthday and set goals for our upcoming year as well as 5, 10, 15 and retirement, we work together and achieve most of the items with grace and ease. There is one goal that seems to keep being put on the list and we don't seem to make it happen. This year my only goal is to get healthy and feel better.

This blog is going to follow my year in Reaching My Goals or shall I say making a life transformation. So in starting out I will share with everyone who reading this blog that I am five feet zero inches tall and today I weigh in at 195 pounds. My BMI is 38.1. My health risks for excess fat stored in the stomach area increases my risk of serious conditions such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer. All of which run in my family.

So, the program starts September 18th, 2012, it seems like it is a lifetime away. In the mean time, I have started to watch what I'm eating and paying attention to when my body is speaking to me as in stop eating before I am stuffed.
